Lookup White County Inmate Records

White County inmate records begin with the county jail roster and the Sheriff's Office custody desk, then branch to booking reports, court records, state prison search, and federal or immigration locators when a person is not in local custody. A White County jail roster search is not a simple online lookup right now because the public list is not active. Current custody information still exists through official jail channels, records requests, victim-notification tools, and Georgia corrections systems.

White County Jail Roster Status

The official White County current-inmates page says the online inmate listing is temporarily disabled. The Sheriff's Office gives a local reason: scammers were using roster data to find relatives of people in custody, then demanding upfront money for a false release or ankle-monitor plan. For current White County inmate records, the page tells the public to call the Sheriff's Office at 706-865-5177.

The former linked vendor roster is also not a reliable public lookup. The Public Safety Cloud/JailTracker White County page was linked as the current inmate population portal, but the research capture found loading and error behavior instead of a usable list. That means a name search may fail even when a person is in the jail. The better sequence is jail phone first, then open records for older booking documents, then GDC, BOP, ICE, or VINELink if the custody level has changed.

The White County Sheriff's Office is led by Sheriff Rick Kelley and operates the county jail. Jail Captain Danny Woods is listed in the jail command block. These White County inmate records are local custody records, not statewide criminal-history reports, and not proof that a court has entered a conviction.

The White County current-inmates notice shows the disabled online-list message and the official call-in instruction.

The notice is important because it changes the lookup workflow from a public roster search to a verified phone and records-request process.

Search White County Inmates

Current White County inmate records should be checked through the jail before any money is paid or any travel plan is made. Use the person's full name, date of birth if known, arrest date or time, and arresting agency. If the arrest was recent, the jail asks callers to allow up to three hours for booking and bond information to become available.

  1. Open the official current-inmates notice to confirm the public roster status and scam warning.
  2. Call the jail or Sheriff's Office at 706-865-5177 for current custody and bond information.
  3. For VINE questions, call Inmate Services at 706-219-7846 during Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  4. For a past booking, file the Sheriff's Office open-records form and select the record type that matches the need.
  5. If the jail cannot confirm custody, check GDC for state prisoners, BOP for sentenced federal inmates, ICE for immigration custody, and VINELink for notification records.

Note: White County warns that release by bond occurs only through approved bond methods, judge order, or sheriff order.

White County Roster Fields

The current public county page does not expose search boxes. It is an explanatory notice. The inactive vendor application appears to support name search and booking-related data, but no live White County sample record was viewable during the research pass. Treat those fields as system support, not as a working search form.

A live online White County inmate profile was not visible because the roster is disabled. Still, official channels identify the key record types that can be confirmed or requested. Current custody and bond information come by phone. Arrest or booking reports, booking photos, and related records can be requested through the Sheriff's Office open-records form.

Request White County Booking Records

The White County Sheriff's Office Open Records Request form is the main fallback for records that are not available through the disabled online roster. The form allows requests for Incident Report(s), Accident Report(s), Audio/Video, Photo(s), Arrest/Booking Report(s), and other Sheriff's Office records. It also asks for contact details, incident date or date range, the person named in the request, location, approximate time, and case number if known.

Booking photos need special care. The form includes a booking photograph acknowledgement tied to O.C.G.A. 35-1-19. The acknowledgement addresses Georgia's limits on release or use of booking photos for pay-to-remove publication schemes. The request form also includes an acknowledgement of possible administrative, supply, copy, search, retrieval, and supervision costs under Georgia open-records law and O.C.G.A. 50-18-71.

The Sheriff's Office open-records form shows the record-type choices and the booking-photo acknowledgement used for White County inmate records.

County Jail or State Prison

White County Jail records cover local jail custody. That includes arrestees being booked, people waiting for first appearance, pretrial detainees, short local sentences, and other holds the jail accepts. A person sentenced to Georgia state prison leaves the White County inmate records channel and moves into Georgia Department of Corrections custody.

Use the GDC Find an Offender page and the GDC Offender Query for sentenced state prisoners. GDC says its free search can use name, ID or case number, age, and identifying details. GDC photos may display when available, but some photos and First Offender Act records may not appear.

The GDC Offender Query search interface is the state fallback after a White County sentence leads to prison custody.

GDC is a different system from the White County Jail, so a missing county roster record can mean transfer rather than release.

White County Jail Facility

White County has one official jail facility in the research map: White County Jail. It is operated by the White County Sheriff's Office at 1210 Hulsey Road, Cleveland, GA 30528. The jail page gives a 176-bed capacity and says the facility handles about 1,800 inmates annually.

The GDC White County Jail listing shows the same county jail as a contact listing and gives 706-865-5178. That listing does not make the jail a state prison.

White County Booking Process

White County publishes one key booking rule: allow up to three hours after a recent arrest for a person to be properly booked into the jail and for bond information to become available. During that period, a caller may not get a final custody or bond answer even if the person has been transported to the facility.

Local arrests can come from the Sheriff's Office, Cleveland Police Department, Helen Police Department, Georgia State Patrol, or another authorized agency. After transport to White County Jail, the person moves through intake and booking. Arrest/Booking Report(s) can later be requested through open records. If a person was arrested on a warrant without a pre-existing bond amount, first appearance is generally held at 2:00 PM Monday through Friday.

Booking
Jail intake after arrest, including identity checks and creation of a custody record.
First appearance
The first court appearance for rights, bond, and next steps after arrest.
Detainer
A request or notice from another agency that may affect release, including ICE detainers.
GDC
Georgia Department of Corrections, the state system for sentenced prison custody.

Contact a White County Inmate

White County Jail no longer accepts non-legal mail at the jail. Non-legal mail must use the scanning address: White County Jail, Inmate Name/ID, Facility ID #5227, P.O. Box 18247, Greensboro, NC 27419. Legal mail still goes to the jail and is searched in the inmate's presence.

Phone service is through Paytel. Commissary deposits are handled through JailATM, deposits.jailatm.com, a lobby kiosk, or money order under the jail's rules. Money orders must be marked for inmate accounts and include the inmate name with no other correspondence.

Bond and Custody Alerts

White County bond rules are specific. All bonds require a $20 cash bond fee with exact change. Cash bond requires the full bond amount plus the fee. Surety bond must go through an approved bonding company, and jail staff cannot recommend one. Property bond has tax, ID, value, and approval rules; out-of-state property may not be used.

The jail page lists approved company contacts in its bonding section. It also warns the public to hang up and call the Sheriff's Office if a call sounds like a scam. For custody notifications, use VINELink, the victim notification network linked by the Sheriff's Office. White County's Q4 2025 O.C.G.A. 42-4-14 report documented 264 bookings, 14 foreign-born inmates, 47 LESC inquiries and responses, 14 unlawful-presence responses, and 11 ICE detainers, so immigration status can be part of the custody picture.
